Summer Bucket List 2012

This summer Tim and I sat down to actually write down things we wanted to do this summer.

I teach and have Looong summer holidays with the boys and we usually get up to lots of fun. This year we thought it would be fun to write down a few of the things we paln to do or want to do. We included a few things specifically linked to our holiday too.

I was also very amused by Tim's choices of what he wanted to squeeze into our time in England.

So here is our list of fun we want to achieve:

  • Visit aquarium
  • Feed the ducks
  • Build a sandcastle together
  • Swim at our local beach
  • Visit McDonalds
  • Do a family bike ride
  • Have an icecream trip
  • Toast marshmellows on the bbq
  • walk down 2 of our local mountains
  • Visit the local farm
  • Go to Barcelona football stadium
  • Eat pizza and pasta in Italy
  • Go to the cinema in England
  • Shop at poundland, poundworld and B & M Bargains
  • Have a Chinese take away at Nana & Grandads
  • Visit the Tivoli (funfair) at Copenhage
  • Go down the big slide on our cruise ship
  • Make fresh pasta together
  • Go fishing

Football Roundup

Tim has continued to LOVE playing football all season.  He happily turns up to each practise and gives 100% each time.

He had a great time attending a big weekend cup on the other side of country a few weeks ago. They travelled 7 hours each way in the car to attend. That is true committment

His team has had a good season so far and have really pulled together to play as a unit, passing and being stratigic with the ball. It is really quite fun to watch them now as they do all the little tricks  as they defend, attack and pass the ball around. Don't be fooled I still only have a general idea of the rules, but I still enjoy watching,

Tim has been moving away from wanting to be in goals recently. Previously he spent half of each game in goal. He now likes to be more in the action running around and setting up or scoring goals. The team has 2 other players who like to go in goal so it is OK.

His trainer continues to encourage him to take a turn in goal every few games. The fact that he is seen as a pretty good goalie may have something to do with it. He also has a deal with the trainer. If at half time he is asked to go in goal, Tim has to do it.

I was very surprised when straight away at the last match he pulled on the goalie top. He has not began a match in goals for a long time, he did a fabulous job and took some amazing saves. I had no idea he was that good. Also when he has the ball, he always seems to kick it out to the right player which is usually half way across the pitch.

Tim was especially excited during this match as he had been asked by the trainer to be the captain. He took his role seriously and did a good job at directing the team on the pitch.

Tim was very proud and really deserved the captain role that day!

Last day of Grade 5!

5th Grade began last August on a warm rainy day.

Tim has grown so much over the year and has really started to be more responsible and organised with his school work. He has worked hard and developed across all areas of the curriculum, especially with maths and writing in English.

Today he set off on a lovely sunny day for the last time as a 5th Grader.

Now let the summer begin........

End of Year Class BBQ for 5B

Tim had his end of year class party this week.

All the parents and students met up at a local area for a pot luck and bbq.

Once everyone had arrived we food and ate the scrummy side orders provided!

While the parents relaxed and caught up the children ran around the field playing football and practising slåball (a Norwegian version of baseball).

Tae had great fun with when he realised how to work the water pump!

Most of the time Tim was off playing with his friends so I didnt manage to capture too many pictures of him!

A girl in Tim's class has a pet goat! She brought it along to the party as if it were a dog!

Tae thought it was fabulous and spent quite a bit of time playing and running around after her. He also got to give her a bottle:)

Then it was the time that everyone had been waiting for........

The annual Slåball match between students and parents!!!

It is always great fun. This year Tim's teacher was there and made us all play by the rules (well loosly). However, I still am a little unsure about them and this is the 5th year we have had the competition.

In the end the students were the victors!! In fairness they play EVERY break time at school during the summer term. The final score was quite close - well maybe not ...... 31-9!

I would also like to document that my OWN son caught me out with one hand - where is family loyalty when you need it!!

A great end to a very successful school year:)

Happy Father's Day Dad!

Today it is Fathers Day in the UK.

So this post is dedicated to my dad.

I'm not too good at getting cards in the post, but it doesn't stop me thinking or loving you dad!

You quietly get on with everything in your own time, at your own pace and never before you have finished your cup of tea!

I don't think I've EVER heard you raise your voice or serioulsy loose your temper (you obviously did not pass that trait onto me or your piercing blue eyes ... sigh;).

You are adored by all of you grandchildren ..... and lets be honest, they could not manage without you driving around and helping them out when needed (that includes you too Nana).

You are always there for cuddles and tickles.

Years of being dominated by living with a house full of females, even the dog, J and I certainly evened the score by providing you with plenty of grandsons.

Thank you for always being there and teaching me key life skills  -  who else could have taught me how to make the best fried egg toasted sandwich!

Hope you have a wonderful Fathers Day. Enjoy a pint in the pub tonight and the boys and I can't wait to see you soon this summer.

There may even be some raspberry ruffles involved!

Tim - age 11

So here he is, hanging out on a normal day, playing his PS3 and trying to ignore his annoying mother who is taking his picture.

Until, he decided enough was enough:)

However, he cooperated the next day. I had a really hard time narrowing down which were my favourite photos to post:))

11 years old and a handsome devil!
