Lent Traditions in Norway

It is traditional in Norway to make 'fastelavens-ris' at lent. This is a bunch (ris) of sticks decorated with colourful feathers.

Tae's nursery do a more child friendly version and used crepe paper. He had carefully stuck each one in place.

In England we celebrate Shrove Tuesday with pancakes served with lemon and sugar. In Norway they celebrate on the Sunday with Fastelovens boller. This is a sweet bread roll cut in half and filled with a sweetend cream and jam. Seriously yummy.
This year my sister and her two youngest we with us and they got the share scrummy cakes:)
