Sunday Walk in Hardanger

Hardanger in Autumn is beautiful.

The leaves are turning golden and high on the mountains the snow has arrived.

It was a perfect day for a walk, so after a lazy brunch we headed off. Tae loved squelching through the mud, which kept him going nicely up the hill!

He did really well most of the way, but when it got very muddy and steep, he opted for his favourite form of transport.

Once at the top, Tae ran around and we carried on past an old farm, which is still in use today.

Even Tig enjoyed getting out and about!!

Off down the mountain again.

Sometimes, you just needs a helping hand.

Seriously, this walk had it all; cows, sheep, mountain, woodland and sea!!!

The boys had great fun skimming flat stones across the still fjord.

From this point, Tim and his friends O & D stayed and did some more skimming and we went further along.

Let's be honest a stick always helps when out for a walk:)

I was very impressed how well Tae managed the whole walk. Our friend G measured it as we went and it came to just over 5km. I guess Tae was carried maybe half a km and biscuits may have been involved in last half km back to our friends cabin;)

Football Cup 2012

On Saturday it was the annual interteam football cup at Tim's club.

Normally, Tig goes along to support Tim, but as I had not seen him play in a while I volunteered to take him and watch the games.

Big mistake!

Don't get me wrong I love watching and cheering as my boy runs around the field. I love hearing about his enthusiasm of a certain tackle or goal, but what I do not love is our local September weather!

It is soooo unpredicable. Some years for this cup it has been warm shorts and t-shirts weather, others cold and windy.

Today it was time for downpouring of rain.

In Norway (especially the west coast), there is an expression:

"There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing!"

Hence, football training or matches never get cancelled due to weather. Tim has played in rain, snow, sleet, and storms. The only time I was really nervous was when I dropped him off for training and it was -13c outside. It felt so wrong, but I wrapped him up and sent him off like a good Norwegian!!

So back to the cup....

Tim and I hauled ourselves out of bed at 8am Saturday morning (so wrong;), I wrapped up in my fleece, rain trousers & jacket and walking boots ready to face a morning on the sidelines (I may have also stood with an umbrella too)!

Tim was actually excited and really does not even notice the rain.

As soon as the matches started and the coat came off he got soaked. It did not bother him at all. He still gave his all and did some good defending and attacking. He even set up a few goals.

After his three matches it was time for refreshments - strong coffee for mummy and a waffle with jam for Tim:)

He was soaked, but a very happy boy.

After a short break we headed inside to the auditorium for the presentation and medal ceremony.

When it was over we drove home. First on the list was a warm shower and change into dry clothes followed by a lovely cooked English breakfast/brunch.

K-Pop

Sunday evening in our house Tim comes up to me and we have the following converstaion:

"Mummy, do you know that Korea has it own type of music?"

"Yes, do you know what it's called?"

"It's called K-Pop I think. It's really quite cool, do you want to listen to it?"

He then grabs his laptop and finds it for me.
"The one I really like is called PSY-Gangnamstyle. It has a really funky dance."

(music video from youtube)

He then proceeds to watch the video and do ALL the dance moves and sings along. He has already watched it 3 times apparently!

This song is seriously addictive (in our house anyway)

He is so on the ball to discovering anything about his brother's Korean culture to share with us all and importantly Tae. I remember when he was 8 and he researched what the South Korean flag looked like so he could make one for Tae's bedroom door (because apparently it was REALLY important that 8 month old Tae knew what it looks like, he also drew him a map of Korea).

....have I mentioned how much I love him:)
