Family Photo Time

Even though we visit England a few times a year, the time always flies and I often come home wishing I had more pictures of my mum and dad with the boys.

So, before we headed off to the wedding I took the opportunity to get some photos of everybody in the garden.

You would think  geting 4 people out onto the lawn at the same time would not be too tricky! Apparently not when you are getting ready for a wedding;)

So I did it in shifts - first my mum with the boys

Somebody was not in the mood for having their photo taken, but had fun anyway;)

So we moved onto Nana and Tim - so much easier!

Then when Grandad appeared, it was his turn with the boys

Tim is catching up to Grandad and joked next year he will be taller then him.

Tae managed to stay around long enough to capture a picture with grandad.

Just before we jumped into the cars to drive to the wedding, I handed Tim the camera to take a few shots of me with my folks! A very rare photo indeed. I don't actually think I have a picture of the 3 of us together (there may be one in my wedding album;)

Tig was somewhere getting ready and sorting the GPS for us so no photos with him this time.

Tae's First Suit

Tae has officially reached big boy status in our house -

(not 'little man' as Nana calls him -" I'm not little Nana, I'm big boy";)

Last weekend we attended a family wedding in England and he had the opportunity to wear his first suit (thanks to Jules).

He was very pleased with himself and looked very handsome. Actually capturing him standing still was a bit of a challenge.

I can't believe how grown up he looked.

Wordless Wednesday - Airport time .... again

The Boy Loves Planes

Tae LOVES planes.

He has quite a collection.

He is very rarely far away from one.

He takes them in his hand everywhere.

They are big.

and they are small.

He watches them take off and land on the iPad.

He gets excited when he gets to go on real ones.

and he has to have them all lined up in his bed when he goes to sleep!!

How they grow up!

I always saw myself as a mum to boys.

I don't know why, but I always thought I'd only have boys and was quite happy with the idea.

What I hadn't done is process what living with a house full of boys would mean after the baby phase. You know the days when you can dress them in cute clothes, make decisions for them and they are in bed by 7pm....sigh...

Well it doesn't quite work that way once they have passed 10 years old (and Tae is challenging his own clothes choices now!). Not in my house anyway. I am not saying it is all bad, but rather, I had not considered all that comes with growing boys;)  A quick glance in my life involves:

Reminders to put the toilet seat down
Putting teddy in someones face and saying 'teddy trumps' and general toilet humour
Nurf gun wars and the little pellets being found ALL over the house
Setting time limits on computer or iPad may induce a huffing and puffing reaction
Understanding the rules of football
Knowing which boxer shorts are trendy
Explaining that the square box in the corner of the bedroom is called a laundry bin
Locating a specific toy plane (because there IS a difference)
Trying to disguise the smell of sweaty football boots
ego everywhere (those bricks seriously hurt when stood on)
Yes, underwear must be changed every day!!!

I do joke! Seriously, my boys are amazing, funny, caring and loving, but wow, they are also smelly!!

As Tim grows I'm learning more and more.

Tim has been asserting his personality recently. Generally he is a clean and tidy individual, but I can see the tide changing as witnessed by his bedroom. Here is the before...

However, we are still at a stage where a quick request (with the added 'no computer time until I see your bedroom floor) and he creates magic in 10 minutes by returning it to it full glory of this..

Most things were put away properly, with the exception of what he refers to as the 'crap corner' behind the door (a special place to throw things that don't fit on the shelf or that he will soon need)!

I am proud at how he is growing up, if I can get him off the computer a little more, life would be great!!

All thoughts and prayers as the tween years continue please!

Back to School August 2012

Today Tim started Grade 6!!!

He was very excited. I had to be at work so Tig took photos and made sure he got off to school on time.

This year he starts with a new subject called Food and Health. He is very keen to begin the once a month cookery lessons which are part of the course:) He had fun meeting up with all his friends and ended up going straight to someones house after school (obviouls ringing for permission first;). After dinner it was my turn to have a lovely, yet noisy group of boys with nerf guns in my house.

Tae also began back at Barnehage this week! He has moved into the 4 year old group, but still has the same staff.  He did not want to wear his backpack, as he usually justs climbs into the car .He was did however, want to keep hold of his apple which  he usually eats on the way:)

Nearly all his photos were out of focus. He kept hopping around giggling, smiling and shouting take my picture mummy! Even though it's out of focus it does capture his cheeky personality.

Nana built a den!

and Tae and cousin H had so much fun playing in it!

Teddy made a tea party for three:)

They filled it up with lots of toys and disappeared inside.

Searching for Frogs

What else would two 11 years old boys do with the option of a pond with a couple of buckets handy??

Tim and T, spent quite a long time quietly searching for frogs in my sisters pond.

They worked together and chatted away throughout their searching.

They found a large frog who kept hopping out of their grasp!

Apparently the baby ones were much easier to get;)

Hunting Spiders

Tae is facinated with spiders. He always has been. I remember when he was a tiny tot about 9 months old crawling around on the floor and following one around with his finger.

Lately he has been talking about spiders alot.

He had great fun in England searching for spiders on a climbing frame with his big cousin C.

He was very bossy, but they had lots of fun:)
