Flashback Friday - 1st Day of Barnahage 2010

One year ago this week, Mr Tae made the huge leap from being with mummy everyday to attending day care.

He has always been quite sociable so we were not too nervous how he would adapt, but it was still a huge step, perhaps more for mummy than him.

His Barnehage is an amazing place filled with dedicated, hard working and caring staff. We really could not be happier when we drop him off each morning.

Tae seems to love it and he often runs off without a backward glance to go and play.

When he began last year he was in the 'baby' room upstairs, now he is all grown up and in the 3-6 yr group. Bless him, due to being a december birthday he is the youngest in the group and not yet reached the age 3 goal!

Together with their help, Tae is a very happy, confident little man and we feel very lucky to know he will spend the next 2 and a half years in their care.

Fire Station Fun

Today was open day at all the fire stations in our area and with a 2 year old who is 'bee-boo' crazy, it really was not an option for us not to go!!

Tim was a little hesistant and felt he was too old to visit a fire station, but, he gave in and came along after we explained it was a family trip.

There was lots of fun activities on offer for all ages.

Tae was fascinated to actually be up so close to a real fire truck and real firemen!!  For the first 10 mins he just stood there in silence taking it all in with a very serious look on his face. Tim went off to the refreshment stand and bought a hotdog and a coke;)

I think the highlight of the trip for Tae was riding in the fire engine with the lights flashing and horns ringing for the last 2 mins of the drive!! The fireman was so nice and even had a childrens music CD playing in the cab whilst we were on the ride.

Tim enjoyed the water shooting practise, but Tae found the strong water shooting a little too scary and ran off.

Without doubt Tim LOVED the Zip line. I think we won him over that the fire station was not the worse way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

I'm not actually sure, who enjoyed the trip more, Tim or Tae? :))

My Little Man is Sick

Mr Tae is not sick very often.
I think he has only been ill 4 times in over two years.

On Wednesday his Nursery called and said my little Munchkin was sick:(

They were not sure what was wrong, but that he was not his fun smiley bundle of energy. In fact he just lay on their sofa with a sad look on his face.

So I picked him up and brought him home.

For most of Day One he just lay on the sofa not even interested in TV or cuddles. Trust me this boy LOVES his cuddles with mummy.

By Day Two and with his fever up and down he started to feel a little better. This meant today has been filled with some of this:

this.....

and this....

and lots of this

When he perked up a little bit, I reverted to the tried and tested Nana Collins method of treating a poorly boy.....

Which is this

According to my mother, the easiest way to get liquids into a sick child and reduce a temperature is to give an ice lolly!! Not sure she did this for us when we were little, but every grandchild gets this treatment when she is around:)))

I will add that in fairness she was a Nursing Sister for her whole career so there may be some truth and not just the indulging Nana part!!

However, it seemed to work and he is on the road to recovery!!

Cousin E's Confirmation

Last weekend was non stop fun as we travelled to Olso to meet up with family to celebrate the Confirmation of Tim & Tae's eldest Norwegian cousin E.

In Norway teenagers are Confirmed at 15 years old. It is seen as a right of passage and involves sessions with the local church over a couple of months. Most teenagers in Norway are Confirmed.

Friday and Saturday nights were filled with catching up, laughter, eating and drinking!

On Sunday the big day arrived and we all got dressed up and headed to church.

Afterwards, we went to a local hall. The food was wonderful. Tim was especially impressed with the smoked salmon wraps, while my favoutite was the scallops wrapped in Serrona ham.

E has grown so much in the last few years and his speech demonstrated how far he has come:)

We are all very proud of E and can't wait to see where the future takes him!!!

I've decided to start posting random comments from my Facebook page that celebrate special times in the past that give a snapshot into our lives at that point. So many big and small events were recorded there that I dont want to forget!!

A Collection of Cousins

So many memories to record, but also sooo tired after a busy weekend away:))

It was amazing to watch the smiles and laughter of 8 children aged 2 to 16 years old hanging out and having fun together.

Gone Fishing Part Two - Catch of the Day:))

Who knew fishing could be soooo much fun!!

It is not very often I have my photo taken, let alone publish it here.

However, I have never seen Tig run so fast for the camera until last Sunday.

Did he want to record my fabulous casting technique??

Was he impressed with my reeling in??

Not quite......

This is what had him snapping away and laughing non stop for 5 mins.

Apparently it is quite a skill to catch a sock from such a deep body of water.
