Musical Beds

Usually Tae is great at bedtime.

He will happily have his vitamin bear, omega 3 fish tablet, brush his teeth and potter up to bed. He likes to have his pillow, teddy and planes all organised before a story or two, then he climbs into bed and says night, night.

He is quite happy being put to bed by most people and sometimes Tim does it:)

Around one year ago he began asking for the light on and the door open. We suspect he is scared of the dark, but since he tucks in and goes to sleep quickly by himself it has never been a problem.

However....... recently he has started to relocate (or sneak very quielty with the above mentioned pillow, teddy and planes) to other people's beds. Either ours or Tim's.  To begin with, we found him a few times in our bed and we just carried him back to his own room without him waking.

Then a couple of weeks ago he got braver. Around 5 minutes after Tim went to bed I could hear giggles coming from upstairs. Tae was proudly in Tim's bed. Quite impresssive as it is a high cabin type with no stairs. Tim had pulled out a sleeping bed and was bunking down on the floor. I quickly returned each boy to their own bed!

When asked why he had not sent his brother back to his room, Tim answered, "he looked so happy and cosy in my bed". Geesh!

So, we come to a few nights ago and I go up to bed. I went to turn Tim's bedside light off and I am greeted by this...

Tae curled up in his brother's bed. So I went in search for Tim.

Just about squeezed in to Tae's Junior bed, but he had thrown out all the soft toys to make room.

Since they were both sound asleep, I left them and headed off to bed myself! It will be interseting to see how this one develops.

......because Tae loves starfish

The Starfish Story

An old man had a habit of early morning walks on the beach. One day, after a storm, he saw a human figure in the distance moving like a dancer. As he came closer he saw that it was a young woman and she was not dancing but was reaching down to the sand, picking up a starfish and very gently throwing them into the ocean.

“Young lady,” he asked, “Why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?”

“The sun is up, and the tide is going out, and if I do not throw them in they will die.”

“But young lady, do you not realize that there are miles and miles of beach and starfish all along it? You cannot possibly make a difference.”

The young woman listened politely, paused and then bent down, picked up another starfish and threw it into the sea, past the breaking waves, saying, “It made a difference for that one.”

The old man looked at the young woman inquisitively and thought about what she had done. Inspired, he joined her in throwing starfish back into the sea.

Sick Boy

Tim is a complete and utter Daddy's boy - that is until he is sick.

Then, it is only mummy he needs. No complaints here with that! So if he wakes from his sleep with tummy ache, it is mummy who gets up with him.

There is nothing worse than seeing your child in pain and being unable to do anything apart from hold them:(

After being sick, it was back to bed for cuddles before a day on the sofa.

This is what a sick day in our house looks like:

You get to wear PJ's all day.

You have a blanket over you...

and you are allowed to watch lots of TV.

In fairness, Tim actually slept most of the morning and the TV did not get on until just before noon - a real sign he really was not feeling good!

I did wait until he felt (and looked) a bit better before taking the pictures.
By late afternoon he also felt up to a little playstastion time too.

A Wonderful Wedding!!

Last weekend we flew to the UK to attend the marraige of Mr & Mrs M.

It was a wonderful day connecting with family we don't see often enough and celebrating with the happy couple.

They are seriously a lovely loved up pair!!!

I captured this as they walked back down the aisle.

Those smiles stayed all day:)

Mrs M. looked stunning in her beautiful dress.

The bridesmaids did their job as she went outside for the photos.

As well as the older bridesmaids, she also had the delightful T & G.

After the service, we relaxed, chatted and grabbed a drink.

Soon it was time to sit down to eat. The tables were named after a theme specific to the couple with butterfly favours.

The food was scrummy - what is not to enjoy when roast beef and yorkshires are on the menu? Tim was especially happy with his favourite Creme Brulee for dessert.

Once the starter had been eaten, true to form, a certain person decided it was all too much and fell asleep. Seriously, this boy can sleep anywhere.

I got to eat and chat away freely for the rest of the meal:) He only woke up near the end of the speeches.

After that is was time for socialising, dancing and the fun photobooth!!

My dad can rock it out with the best of them.

The photo booth was a lot of fun. Serious thought went into which props to use.

Two copies of the pictures came out. One for us to keep and the other was stuck into their guest book where everyone wrote a message to the bride and groom. Such a great fun idea.

Fun fact: Out of a huge box full of crazy glasses both Nana and Tim picked out the same pair. We each went up at different times and only noticed when comparing photos.
